Physical Characteristics:

Very large -- thick, gray-flecked fur especially long around neck -- long, curved claws

Habitat:

Open meadows and river valleys -- can be down in forest and lower mountain slopes

Habits:

Solitary -- establishes territory, marking it by clawing trees -- winters in den, but is not a true hibernator

Diet:

Eats whatever is available
